KELSEYVILLE — An elderly Clearlake woman was hit and killed in a collision Thursday at the intersection of Highways 29 and 281, known as Kit”s Corner.

According to California Highway Patrol reports, Nancy Short, 76, was traveling northbound on State Route 29 when Timothy Tillman, 30, of Cobb, pulled into the intersection directly into her path. Short was unable to avoid the 2004 Ford truck driven by Tillman, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Short”s airbag did not deploy, according to CHP Officer Kevin Domby, and an investigation will be conducted to determine the cause.

Two of Short”s passengers, Ely Peterson and Effrida Lablanc, both of Clearlake, sustained moderate injuries and were transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital for treatment.

Short”s third passenger, Eugene Martinez, 58, sustained major injuries and was flown by REACH helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

All parties and passengers were wearing seat belts, according to the CHP.
