How often have students of history, and others, pondered this question: How did the madman, Hitler, manage to seduce the good people of Germany so that he could commit myriad atrocities, with little protest from the said “good people of Germany”? Destruction and ravaging of neighboring nations, enslavement of humans, and the unspeakable horror against the Jewish people and all who did not fit his criteria. How did he manage to enlist the hapless Mussolini to drag his nation into partnership? How did he flout the Geneva Convention and all aspects of human rights in his road to destruction?
Well, my fellow citizens, you”re watching a reenactment today. A dictator who dragged us into war on a tangled web of lies. Who enlisted another nation (Great Britain) to join in this assault on Third World countries. Who subverted the Geneva Convention so as to ship uncharged victims to foreign countries to be tortured, specifically those in the hell hole of Guantanamo Bay. It”s an astounding violation of what should be sacred: human rights.
So now we have our own Hitler and his co-hort, Tony Blair. And thousands of our young men and countless innocent Iraqis dead for no reason.
Have I a solution? No. Should we replace the “in-crooks” (Republicans) with the “out-crooks” (Democrats)? Not until they decide to vote for the welfare of the country instead of their party.
Cynical you say? Not by birth but by experience.
