My husband woke up early to go to his first wheelchair race at the Pear-a-thon. He won a T-shirt and a certificate. I got to sleep in and have my coffee, read the paper and do my crossword puzzle. This was the start of the Perfect Day.
We then drove to the Pear Festival and “ate” our way down the street and “shopped” our way up the street. We saw our friends and neighbors. We were able to see booths and support the many organizations of the county. We saw cloggers, tractors, happy dogs and smiling people.
On our way home we stopped and bought some more pears at a pear farm. We made our selection and put the money in an unattended plastic container. The pears were great and the trust and honor of the grower was apparent.
We then drove to Sutton Farm and went through the corn maze. We got lost and laughed like a couple of kids as we realized we were going in circles. We bought some gourds and vegetables and came home.
In the evening I put the finishing touches on a quilt I am entering in the Falling Leaves Quilt Show this next weekend. This was truly a perfect day and we are blessed to live in a community like ours.
I hope you might print my thoughts during this week to give others a chance to pause and feel the gratitude I feel.
