LOWER LAKE — Keeping the ball on the ground all night long, the St. Helena Saints rolled over the Lower Lake Trojans 34-6 in a North Central League I interlock varsity football game on Friday night at Gordon Sadler Field.
St. Helena (3-2) attempted only one pass and Lower Lake (1-4) registered a sack on the play ? by Chris Sisco.
“They ran the dive-option very well,” Lower Lake coach Joe Marinello said. “Their counter was very effective against us.”
Jake Sanders” 17-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Freeman in the second quarter accounted for the Trojans” only score as they trailed 13-6 at halftime. St. Helena pushed that advantage to 21-6 after three quarters.
“The kids played hard but they (Saints) controlled the ball and the clock,” Marinello said.
Sisco led the Trojans with five tackles, including the sack.
