Theodore B.”Ted” Hohn, age 64, passed away at home on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Elva; son, Josh; daughter-in-law, Lisa; son, Zack, and future daughter-in-law, Van. He also leaves his sister and brother-in-law, Holly and Doug, and his sister-in-law, Carol; as well as several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Ted was born in Los Angeles and raised in Altadena. He served for four years in the Air Force and two years in the Air National Guard. He began his 30-year career as a traffic officer in 1967 with the CHP in Los Angeles. In 1973, Ted and Elva moved to Lake County, where Ted continued his work with the CHP for the next 24 years. During that time, Ted fulfilled his lifelong dream of building a home and raising a family.

Ted served for 12 years on the school board for Upper Lake Elementary School and was part of the team that was instrumental in building Upper Lake Middle School. He also volunteered as a coach for the JV football team at Upper Lake High. Later, Ted was very involved with the West Point Parents” Club of Northern California, serving as president for one year.

A man of many talents, Ted enjoyed gardening, landscaping and traveling throughout the world. And he loved to dance!

A “Toast to Ted” for family and friends will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14.
