On Thursday, Oct. 5, I was honored to march alongside about 100 brave, young Upper Lake High School students. In answer to the national call for a day of protest by the organization, World Can”t Wait, www.worldcantwait.org, they left their classrooms at 12:55 p.m., walked to Highway 20 where they held a peace rally.
How refreshing it was to be among these warriors for peace as they each stood out in the rain, under a “Who Would Jesus Bomb” banner waving to the cars driving by and taking turns talking about why they were there and what did they want.
There was, of course, a huge event in San Francisco but our little peace walkout by these gutsy students was truly a powerful event.
