NORTHSHORE — Two major collisions along the county”s Northshore caused major injuries and slowed traffic along Highway 20 and the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff.
In Clearlake Oaks, a head-on collision resulted in major injuries for a Roseville man.
Timothy Bedford, 53, sustained major injuries Thursday morning when a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Jessica Web of El Cajon traveled over the double yellow lines just west of Henderson Drive and collided head-on with Bedford”s 2005 Chevy pickup truck.
Bedford was traveling westbound on Highway 20 and Webb was traveling eastbound in her 1987 Chevy sedan when the collision occurred.
Both parties were wearing their safety belts.
Officials from the Clearlake Oaks fire department, California Department of Forestry and the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
According to CHP reports, Webb was transported by Reach helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for major injuries, which included a fractured femur. Highway 20 was closed for approximately an hour.
Along the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff, the CHP reported that speed was a major factor in the collision between Peter Wells, 44, of Santa Rosa, and Clifford Maner, 54, of Upper Lake, which also occurred Thursday morning.
Wells suffered moderate injuries when Maner lost control of his 1990 GMC Sierra pickup truck while heading westbound on the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff approximately a mile east of Westlake Road.
Maner reportedly traveled into the opposing lane, colliding with Wells in his 1994 Dodge Caravan.
Wells suffered injuries to his head and the left side of his body and was transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital.
According to CHP reports, seat belts were employed by both parties and probably saved their lives.
