UPDATED:

Andy Peterson retired last month from being Lake County”s deputy redevelopment director. For five years I have had the pleasure of working as a volunteer with Andy.

We have lived in Lake County 21 years. Six years ago we decided to move our business to Upper Lake. We knew the county had started an aggressive tourism promotion and had hired a marketing company to advise the county how to bring tourism back.

So, along with the county administrators, Andy, the employees of different county departments, the supervisors and citizens, the journey began of the rebirth, revitalization and renaissance of the North Shore. The new visitor center in Lucerne was the first project.

It would take a lot of community effort and smart planning to bring about this 20-year redevelopment plan and; with Andy guiding us, it brought the Northshore communities together. Community nonprofit groups formed and gave input along with the Northshore Business Association, Lake County Resort and Restaurant Association and the Lakeport Regional Chamber of Commerce. It is the citizens from these communities that have determined how we would grow and develop.

If you have a question about any of the plans for our Northshore ask the volunteers who have invested their time and money to clean up some of the blighted areas.

We thank Andy and other county officials who have guided us, attended our meetings, kept us updated and answered many questions. We have had the opportunity of a lifetime to be part of the redevelopment of our communities. So, with Andy”s retirement, it”s important that we continue what has been started.

Thank you Andy and happy retirement. We will miss you and, as you said, “Good things will come.”
