KELSEYVILLE — Closing out their North Central League I interlock schedule at 3-3, the Kelseyville Knights had to work for it on Friday night, rallying past the St. Vincent Mustangs 24-19 in varsity football action at Kelseyville.

After St. Vincent had pushed ahead 19-18 with 1:23 left on a 2-yard run by quarterback Rich Farinha, Kelseyville took the ensuing kick and moved 64 yards on three pass plays to win the game. Tony Sekona”s 18-yard touchdown pass, his third of the game, to tight end Joe Gatlyn gave the Knights a 24-19 lead with 40 seconds left.

Sekona completed 9 of 16 passes for 183 yards, including TD strikes of 15 and 18 yards to Gatlyn and 6 yards to Jared Templeton. Tanner Olsen also threw a touchdown pass, a 29-yarder to Templeton in the first quarter.

Olsen was Kelseyville”s leading rusher with 78 yards.

“We were lucky to get out of there with our lives,” Kelseyville coach Stan Weiper said.

St. Vincent drops to 1-5.
