We bought our first home in Kelseyville (Clear Lake Riviera) in 2001. We had lived in Sonoma County pretty much our whole life. When we moved up here we were SO happy to get away from the disgusting traffic in Sonoma County. I”m talking about tailgaiting, passing when unsafe, non-merging,cutting off other people Pretty much reckless driving. I am sure a lot of people know what I”m talking about.

Well, now that Lake County is gaining population I am noticing more and more people are driving like this. Every day I take my two children to school between 7:30 and 8:15 a.m. The drive to the Riviera School is not so bad. People do need to slow down though, on Soda Bay Road by the store and fire station. But the drive into Kelseyville: That pretty much ruins my day.

I would put my child on the bus but it”s overcrowded and a 10-minute drive takes 45 minutes on bus. When I merge onto Highway 29, I immediately get tailgated, and sometimes get passed unsafely, just to gain what? One car?

About a week before the bad accident at Kit”s Corner I saw three different instances with bad drivers on Highway 29 and I thought, “Someone is going to get hurt” and look, someone did get hurt, resulting in a death at Kit”s Corner.

Please everyone! Be courteous to other drivers, quit taking your car for granted and slow down! You are not saving any time.
