LAKEPORT — The 17th annual KXBX October Classic wrapped up a three-day run Sunday at the Lakeport Speedway, where 144 cars in six classes took part in qualifying on Friday, trophy dashes and heat races on Saturday, and main events on Sunday.

Kevin Estep of Clearlake Oaks cleverly managed lapped traffic to win the Late Model main event, with Mike Doss of Nice setting the fast time (12.453 seconds) and Gary Glen of Orangevale winning both the trophy dash and his heat race.

Joe Sloan of Upper Lake held off an outside challenge to win the Pro-4 modified main event and his heat race. Ken Gifford of Cobb Mountain set the fast time (13.997, Andy Leuzinger won the trophy dash and John Barker won the other heat race.

David Furia of Healdsburg made a last-lap pass to win a caution-fraught modified main event and he also won his heat race. Noel McCormick Jr. of Lakeport, the 15-year-old Ukiah modified champion, set the fast time (12.658), Gary Lowblad of Upper Lake won the trophy dash, Thomas Wright of Kelseyville won his heat race, and Jonathon Reynolds of Lakeport won the other heat race as well as the B-main event.

In mini-stock action, Jason Romero of Cameron Park could not be caught as he won the main event, set the fast time (13.611), won the trophy dash and his heat race. Rick Gard of Lakeport and James Trethewey of Grass Valley also won their heat races.

In street stock competition, Joshua Whitfield of Rocklin led from start to finish in the main event and also won his heat race. Chris Lambert of Loomis set the fast time (13.568) and Micky Owens of Alberta won the trophy dash and his heat race.

Northern California Racing Association bomber champion George Abella of Lakeport defended an early lead to win the bomber main event. He also won his heat race. David Braund of Cottonwood set the fast time (14.847) and also won his heat race. Eric Johnson won the trophy dash, James Sturges of Ukiah won the other heat race, and Shelby Helm of Calpella won the B-main event.

Bonus Bombers are the same as Bombers except that they run on tires that are still used at some other speedways. Kevin Estep of Clearlake Oaks left the field in the dust to win the main event and he also win the trophy dash. Charlie Collins of Nice set the fast time (13.994), Andy Vander Veer of Santa Rosa won his heat race and the B-main event, and Robert Byers of Redwood Valley and Brian King of Millville won the other heat races.
