WILLITS — The Kelseyville Knights served up a good on Tuesday, smacking the Willits Wolverines 25-14, 25-6, 25-8 in a North Central League I North varsity volleyball match that was won decisively from the service line.
“We served really, really well tonight,” Kelseyville coach Larry Bresso said.
Better yet, according to Bresso, “We played three solid games, gave three solid efforts. Now I”d like to see us put good efforts together in back-to-back matches.”
Lauren Nixon served the final 11 points of game two and the first seven of game three, an 18-point run that included five of her six aces on the night. Katie King had a team-best nine aces on only 14 service attempts and Jill Bailey and Jamie Stockman added four and three aces, respectively.
“Willits played extremely well the first half of game one and we thought we were in for a battle,” Bresso said.
But the Knights then took control of the game and never let up the rest of the way.
“They gave us everything they had in the first game and when it wasn”t enough, they kind of rolled over,” Bresso said of the young Wolverines, who start three sophomores. “They”re going to be something in a couple of years.”
King also led Kelseyville with seven kills and Nixon had five. Nixon added a team-high 11 digs, Jill Bailey had eight and Stockman and Amy Dawson four apiece.
Kelseyville improved to 2-0 in the North standings.
