Riley Kent Bradley was born Oct. 9, 1931 in Mosquero, N.M. He passed away at his Kelseyville home Aug. 15, 2006, a casualty of mesothelioma.

Kent is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rowena, and their children, Kevin Bradley, Christopher Bradley, Stacia Doser, and Shari Duval; sisters Kathleen Brewer and Maxine Warren. He is also survived by grandchildren, Benjamin and Aaron Bradley, Justin and Tyler Hochleutner, and Ashley and Jordan Duval, as well as 14 nieces and nephews.

Kent served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict as a damage controlman on the USS Delta. He graduated from Redondo Union High, received a BA from Chico State University and an MA from San Francisco State University. He taught junior high and high school industrial arts, math and science in St. Helena, Santa Rosa, and in an American school in Germany.

Kent was always ready to lend a helping hand, from building the steeple for a small west Santa Rosa church, to helping those in need. He had a quiet patience that was a reflection of his inner strength; others often looked to him as the calm in the storm, for advice or help when their world was shaken. He enjoyed sharing experiences, knowledge and beliefs with others. Kent was a world traveler, with family, friend or on his own.

Kent will be remembered for organizing family camp-outs, his love of travel and gourmet cooking, his adventurous spirit and profound faith.

The family held a memorial celebration of Kent”s life in September.
