A native of Minneapolis, MN, born on June 18, 1922, passed away this past Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006. He was 84 years old. He was a resident of Kelseyville for the past 16 years and U.S. Navy veteran. Vernon came to California in 1948. He worked in Sacramento before moving to Southern California where he retired from Kemper Ins. Co. in 1987. He enjoyed fly fishing, hunting and was a member of the Yosemite Hiking Club.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Linda R. Mahlman, daughters Karen Mahlman Henley (Ben), Lynn Mahlman Harker (Michael), brother Edwin Mahlman, granddaughter Chelsea, nephews Michael and David Mahlman. He also leaves brothers and sisters-in-law, the Riviera family and friends.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2006 at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 1625 High St., Lakeport, and to Hartley Cemetery where Vernon will receive military honors performed by the Lake County Veterans” Council.
