A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Elsie Ferguson Pendleton will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Mendo Lake Credit Union Conference Room on 11th Street in Lakeport. All of Elsie”s many friends are invited to share Elsie”s stories and potluck goodies.
Elsie succumbed to a brief battle with cancer on Oct. 11.
She was well known in Lake County for her theatrical activities, her popular radio program on KPFK and her two years of service on the Lake County Grand Jury.
Elsie was a product of the motion picture studio systems that dominated Hollywood in the pre-World War II period. She was a child actress, a starlet and a stand-in for her friend Ida Lupino.
She often regaled friends with stories of attending the Academy Awards, the opening of the Coconut Grove and the many Hollywood notables she knew.
She moved to Lake County with her husband of 42 years, Jerry Pendleton, and lived on Corinthian Bay.
