LAKEPORT — The Upper Lake Cougars had no answer for Clear Lake”s Shana Hiatt or the Cardinals, 25-10, 25-14, 25-20 winners in a North Central League I South varsity volleyball match on Tuesday night in Lakeport.
The Cardinals (3-1) are tied with Cloverdale (3-1) for the South lead at the halfway point of the league season. St. Helena and St. Vincent are both 2-2.
“The kids stay focused,” Clear Lake coach David Laven said.
Hiatt, who pounded out a team-high 14 kills, was focused on the Cougars all match long.
“She controlled the match,” Laven said. “They had no answer for her or Savannah (Harrison).”
Harrison had eight kills and four aces for the Cardinals. Hiatt added three aces.
Another standout for Clear Lake was Cassie Willis with four aces.
“She served lights out,” Laven said.
Hannah Johnson”s 16 digs and five blocks paced Upper Lake (0-4).
“Hopefully we can turn the corner in the second half of league,” Upper Lake coach Sandy Coatney said.
Caity Falge and Rebecca Grupe each had five kills for the Cougars.
Upper Lake won the junior varsity match 25-19, 25-23.
