* The Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Clearlake City Council candidates” forum, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in Council Chambers at Clearlake City Hall. Thursday, Oct. 26

* The Thursday morning breakfast group will meet at 7 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Main Street Cafe, 14084 Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake. Lake County Counsel Anita Grant will present an impartial analysis with discussion of propositions appearing on the Tuesday, Nov. 7, ballot. October program chairperson is Ed Robey.

* Clearlake Elks Lodge No. 2299 will hold its Friday night dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27at Old Highway 53 and Crawford Avenue. Chef Robert will be serving beef and brandy saute or grilled salmon with basil sauce for $9 per person. Dessert will be pumpkin cake for $1 more. All Elks and their guests are welcome. * Clearlake Oaks Moose Lodge will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of Mooseheart, the club”s beloved orphanage, at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at the lodge, located at the Highway 20 and Highway 53 junction in Clearlake Oaks. The event will include dinner, karaoke music, dancing and a silent auction. Viewing of the silent auction items will begin at 3 p.m.. Announcements of the top bidders will be held after dinner.

Saturday, Oct. 28

* Serenity Place Dancing will host a halloween dance Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Clearlake Elks Lodge, Crawford Avenue at Old Highway 53 in Clearlake. Doors open at 7 p.m. with a free dancing lesson at 7:30 p.m. and more dancing at 8 p.m. There will be a no-host bar and guests are asked to bring a dish to share for the “boo-fet.” Pre-sale tickets are priced at $10; tickets at the door are $12.50. Friday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Oct. 28

* Vehicle amnesty days are available to Clearlake residents, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Oct. 28, at Middletown Towing and Vehicle Dismantlers, 15970 Polk Avenue in Clearlake. Title to a vehicle is not required to dispose of vehicles. California Highway Patrol officers and volunteers, as well as Lake County Code Compliance staff, will be on site to assist participants with the necessary forms to release ownership. * The Lake County Farm, Home, and 4-H Foundation is hosting a Friends of the Foundation dinner to benefit local 4-H programs, 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in Fritch Hall at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 401 Martin Street in Lakeport. Tickets are $50 each or $400 for a table of eight. A program at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, featuring Cornell Lab of Ornithology videographer Larry Arbanas, is open to the general public. Two 9 a.m. bird walks take place, Saturday at Anderson Marsh State Historic Park and Sunday at Clear Lake State Park.

* The Lake County division of California Retired Teachers” Association will be holding its November? meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Happy Gardens, 13440 East Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks. The guest speaker is Bonnie Evenigred, whose topic is “How to Design a Special Book for Your Family.”? ?
