In regards to the many opinions being printed in regards to the up-classing of Lucerne, it would be helpful if there was more concern in trying to protect these improvements.

Being a member of the sixth generation of one family to live between Upper Lake and Lucerne, maybe some of these people speaking concerning matters of Lucerne might know more before they turn a blind side to a lot of the matters that caused Lucerne to look like it does.

For one thing look at the drug invasion, and the will of so many to just sit back and see the homes trashed by this vile bunch of lawless vagabonds, and so many willing to say, “I don”t want to get involved,” so the wanton defacing of Lucerne goes on. Who”s going to protect all this property? The cops? They haven”t got the manpower to protect what”s here now. They”ve chain-locked the public rest rooms at the park because they were finding bedding, pillows, drug needles and several other little goodies I”m sure you would like to hear about.

A drug treatment center, better known as the dope dump next door to the clubhouse, where so many (from what I”ve read, would like a beautiful hotel built) why would you want money to go into something like that when the right thing to do would be to run the druggies out of Lucerne. That sounds more intelligent than housing them across from a grammar school. Remember when the cops raided a meth lab across from the same school? “How could that happen?” asks everyone. Well, now you want thousands put into a motel right next door to them. When it”s trashed, what then? “How could this happen?”

The monies would be well spent building a housing unit for these people out at Hill Road; there”s even an educational center out there close to medical aid and everything for these people.

What”s in Lucerne for them? The rent is going higher and higher because of their message, destruction of property and housing, homeowners are more and more willing to raise the requirements, background searches, deposits, rent and, don”t hold your breath, drug testing will soon be required to rent. It”s coming; there”s already four more new homes almost ready to come into Lucerne. It would be easier to join the CIA than to move into the new houses.

And it”s not the “loafers” and never was; it”s the “Wee Floaters,” privately owned by boaters in the Bay Area. They were up over the Labor Day holiday and words can”t explain how they felt to see their property destroyed. “Now how did that happen?” Twelve-foot fences would help but the county doesn”t allow it, so maybe good ol” Lewis would help not a chance! If it”s not worth putting anything in his hat, it”s not worth saving, like Lucerne water. He lives on a well in Bachelor Valley.

Money and investors don”t make a town caring does.
