
LAKEPORT — The father-and-son team of Randy McAbee Sr. and Randy McAbee Jr. of Bakersfield took top honors in the two-day Angler”s Choice Team Tournament of Champions, which wrapped up its two-day run on Saturday at the Konocti Vista Casino, Resort and Marina in Lakeport.
The McAbees brought 53.84 pounds to the scales during the two-day event. They won a new, fully-rigged bass boat valued at more than $45,000.
The McAbees successfully defended their title after winning last year”s Angler”s Choice TOC. They also won the WON BASS TOC held recently on Clear Lake. In fact, during the past 12 months the McAbees have won a total of four bass boats at Clear Lake.
The McAbees caught more than 40 fish on Thursday and more than 20 on Friday, according to Randy Sr.
In second place was the team of Don Thompson of Atkon and Rob Tomlin of Castiac with 47.11 pounds. They also won a bass boat valued at more than $40,000.
The tournament drew 131 boats.
