The Lake County Fire Protection District (LCFPD) will be going all out during Autumn Health & Safety Festival, which begins at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Wal-Mart shopping center parking lot in Clearlake. The fire district has several events planned to help educate the community on a variety of fire safety, accident prevention and disaster preparedness techniques.

Firefighters, emergency medical technichians and other district personnel will engage in live demonstrations, conduct car seat safety checks and provide education aimed at prevention and preparedness. An air ambulance is also expected to land during the event.

“This is a great opportunity for the public to learn what happens during emergency response,” said Willie Sapeta, LCFPD battalion chief. “It”s also a great way to educate the community before disaster strikes.”

Fire personnel will perform live demonstrations involving auto extrication, technical rescue, fire suppression, car seat safety, medical emergencies and overall fire and accident prevention. Along with demonstrations, fire personnel will also be providing the public with hand-out information regarding fire safety in the home, accident prevention and other educational materials to keep the family safe and healthy.
