Lakeport Community Players is currently rehearsing “Sin, Sex and the CIA,” a brand new comedy by Michael and Susan Parker. LCP previously produced two plays by Michael Parker: “The Amorous Ambassador” and “Whose Wives Are They Anyway?” Both of these plays were uproariously funny, and “Sin, Sex and the CIA” utilizes the same American farce style.
The cast of “Sin, Sex and the CIA” is a mix of well-known LCP players and new talent. Daniel Suenram plays the part of Luke James, a bumbling CIA agent on his first field assignment. He is responsible for securing the cabin where a meeting is to take place between Margaret Johnson, an assistant secretary of state (played by Julie Hoskins); and a representative of the Chagos Islands. Margaret relentlessly pursues Daniel Warren, a retired Marine Corps sergeant acting as caretaker of the cabin. Daniel is played by Doug Reams. The Reverend Samuel Abernathy (Rich Adams), a quintessential televangelist, comes in just in time to foil Margaret”s plans. However, after lecturing Margaret and Daniel on their inappropriate behavior, the Reverend Samuel Abernathy finds himself in compromising situations with the neighbor, Heather Ann Faraday, played by Laura Fichtel. The reverend”s dowdy secretary, Millicent (played by Crystal Hutchins), finds herself fascinated by Luke, and takes lessons from Heather on how to attract his attention. Ranger Don tries to help Luke secure the cabin, but Luke continues to get caught in all his own booby traps.
