As we approach the Nov. 7 election, we hear stories in the media about all the negative and deceptive campaign advertising going on around the country. There is one type of malicious campaign advertising that I would like to warn voters about: It is called the weekend hit piece. It”s easy to spot, because it arrives in the mail on Friday or Saturday before the Tuesday election and contains terrible allegations about one of the candidates. It is timed so that the candidate being attacked has no time to respond before election day. It”s an old trick.
I hope we will not see any of these “hit pieces” in our local races this year, but just in case we do I have some friendly advice for any voter who receives one. Show your disgust with this type of attack ad by voting for the person being attacked. Show the cowardly liars who do this sort of thing that it doesn”t work on you.
