UPDATED:

I”ve been coming to the Clearlake Highlands since the 1940s. I”ve been a property owner in Clearlake since 1972, and a permanent resident since 1978. I remember the wonderful times we had boating, swimming, skiing and dancing, and I also remember when it all ended in the early 1960s.

One of my goals is to bring a portion of that back and here I speak of the tourist industry. It”s the only option available to us.

I decided to run for Clearlake City Council due to the fact that so many people encouraged me to do so.

As to my qualifications for this responsible position: I started my career in construction as an apprentice carpenter. I rose steadily through the ranks to the position of project superintendent on commercial projects. I accomplished this through an aggressive attitude, study and dedication. I now offer the same to the people of our city.

Since becoming a Clearlake resident I”ve served on a number of committees, including three years on lakeshore design, one year on the original redevelopment commission and two years as chairman of Citizens Advocating Responsible Progress. I”ve organized numerous cleanup committees, worked on a number of construction projects for our young people and set up classes for parliamentary procedures.

Some of my focus issues include making the city”s redevelopment agency viable and creating more opportunities for communication between the community and the city government.

We can show you a way to have decent, paved streets through redevelopment with a partial grant, thereby making the city cleaner and safer, and increasing property values significantly more than the streets will cost. And we can do this without raising taxes.

Other important issues I plan to address include fixing the City Council chambers” deplorable sound system, keeping City Hall open five days a week for the convenience of our citizens, stopping the preferential treatment given to some and make the law applicable to all.

Everybody who knows me knows that I”m a fighter, and that”s what the City of Clearlake needs most right now someone to fight for it.

If you would like to speak to me about a problem, call me at 994-1418.

Let”s light a firecracker under city hall.
