Harpist Jessica Schaeffer and Kelseyville flutist Cathy Hall will be featured soloists in the Mozart Concerto for Flute and Harp. At 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, the Lake County Symphony will perform for the first time in the new Marge Alakszay Center, at Clear Lake High School on Lange Street in Lakeport.

Schaeffer, who has played the harp since age 10, is a natural, confident, captivating performer. She received her formal musical education attending world renowned institutions including Interlochen Center for the Arts, Aspen Music Festival & School, and Northwestern University where she received a degree in Harp Performance.?

Kelseyville flutist, Catharine Hall, started playing flute after first grade and continued studying through college and with private teachers (including jazz great, Buddy Collette).

After attending Mt. San Antonio Jr. College and San Diego State University, she moved to Hawaii in 1974, where she worked as a legal secretary. Hall was a founding member of the Hulihee Palace Band under the direction of Charles “Bud” Dant.

Also on the program is Mozart”s Symphony No. 39, the first of his “Final Trilogy;” and the Sinfonia Veneziana by Mozart”s contemporary, Antonio Salieri. You may recall the shroud of mystery surrounding this composer”s reputation, especially if you saw the film “Amadeus”.

In addition, the Lake County Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Wesley Follett, ?will perform the familiar “Rondo Alla Turca” by Mozart.

The?Symphony concert, brought to you?by Clear Lake Performing Arts, is?under the direction of John?Parkinson and?is comprised of local and?Northern California?musicians.
