Where does the fault lie?
The data presented by Cynthia Davis (“Local law enforcement”s crisis,” Oct. 31) lists appropriations for Lake County Sheriff”s Office salaries and benefits for fiscal year 1999-2000 as $7.8 million, compared with $14.8 million for fiscal year 2006-2007.
If these figures are indeed correct, perhaps, dear Brutus, the fault lies not with the budget allocations themselves, but rather with the management of those appropriations.
I think there”s a lot of workers in Lake County who would be envious of 9 percent compounded annual wage increases for the last seven years.
