Alice Mae Towers passed after four months of illness, Nov. 11, 2006, in Clearlake. She received loving and attentive care from staff at Meadowood Nursing Facility, her family and hospice caregivers who saw to her comfort in her final days. At peace and at rest. There are to be no services, per her instruction. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to Hospice of Clearlake would be appropriate.

Alice was born Feb. 10, 1924, second of four sisters. She is survived by sister Wilma Seals of Lower Lake. She was married to Joseph W. Towers for 50 years. Joe preceded her in death in 1996.

She is mother to Joe C. Towers, Berkeley; Dan Towers, Clearlake Oaks; Bill Towers (Gayle), Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and Patricia Williams, Scottsdale, Ariz.; as well, to so many that adopted the name and love for her as just “mom.” You know who you are.

Moving to Clearlake in 1996, they made career changes and worked for the schools system in transportation and food services, Lower Lake High, etc. Previously, Alice was an assembler for the NASA Apollo moon program at her job in Concord, and took pride in the participation that put her name in a capsule on the Moon. She was a wonderful artist expressing her imagination and the world through acrylic paintings. She was a part of 40+ Bingo and still has many loving friends, locally, who remember her dearly with that fondness and spirit expressed in their company. Grandchildren include Erin Green (Sam), Reno, Nev.; Dan Towers, Hayward; Clayton and Audrey Short, Sebastopol; Amber and Casey McGehee, Tennessee; Brian Bennet; and Amy Bennet of Arizona.
