CLEARLAKE OAKS — The Lake County Sheriff”s Office is conducting an ongoing investigation after a Clearlake Oaks man was robbed at gunpoint in his home just before 10 p.m. Wednesday.
According to an LCSO press release, five suspects bearing firearms broke into the victim”s home in the 1100 block of Widgeon Way wearing masks. The suspects allegedly bound the homeowner and another Clearlake Oaks resident on the scene, then proceeded to demand money and other property.
The suspects reportedly took over 25 pounds of processed medicinal marijuana, electronic equipment and approximately $200 before driving away in the victim”s vehicle. The victims then called the sheriff”s office at 9:49 p.m. Deputies Lyle Thomas and Jim Samples responded.
Thomas spotted the victim”s stolen Toyota SUV near the intersection of West Widgeon Way and Lakeview Drive on his way to the scene of the robbery. Thomas reported seeing two suspects running away from the vehicle on foot, who ultimately got away despite a search of the surrounding area by two additional responding deputies. None of the other five could be found.
Detectives Steven Brooks and Jerry Pfann were called to assist the deputies in the continuing investigation.
