LaVerne Audrey Beardsley, a recent resident of Lake County, died peacefully there on Nov. 12, 2006 at the age of 84. A lifelong San Francisco Bay Area resident, LaVerne graduated from Mary”s Help Hospital School of Nursing in San Francisco. She worked at Mary”s Help (Seton) Hospital for 47 years, a much-loved and respected emergency room nurse.
A grandmother to 11, great-grandmother to 14 and an aunt to a multitude of nieces and nephews, LaVerne”s greatest joys were times spent with family and friends. She was widowed after 56 years of marriage to her precious partner and friend, Bill. They resided happily, in Colma for almost 50 years. There, they raised their four children, Colleen Beardsley of Clearlake Oaks, Patricia Anne Dunton of Walnut Creek, Audrey Boudreaux of Kelseyville and William “Bill” Beardsley of Napa. LaVerne”s three daughters followed her lead into nursing; her son — in Bill”s footsteps — served in the Navy.
Upon retiring, LaVerne and Bill were active participants in the multifaceted Seniors” Club of Colma. They spent summers at Clearlake. LaVerne was an expert swimmer and she enjoyed water sports until late in her life. Each member of our family and all those fortunate to know our mother, will always remember and truly miss LaVerne”s bright smile, her generous nature and her special and endearing sense of humor.
