Barbara June Andre, age 81, passed away on Nov. 16, 2006 at her home in Buckingham Park, surrounded by her loving family.
She is free now of the confines of an aching body and abides now with her loving husband Leif, her mother Mary, grandson Ureal, and other loved ones on the other side.
Barbara was born in Oakland, June 6, 1925 to Rudolph and Mary Hedlund, who emigrated to the U.S. from Sweden.
She grew up enjoying and mastering the Scandinavian traditions of cooking, quilting and dancing. It was at a dance festival that she met her life partner Leif. They fell in love, married, and had three children, Lynn, Don and Bob.
From these children came many grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much. Lynn and her husband Roger”s children are Caryn, Mathew and Jonathan. Don and Kathy”s children are Sarah and Tom, and Bob”s children are Shastl with his first wife Kathleen, and Clare and Dave with his wife Durga.
Barbara is also survived by her brothers, Stan and wife Jan, and their son Kyle, and Charles and wife Diane, and their daughters Kathleen and Cindy.
Barbara”s life revolved around her relationship with God and family. She was the consummate loving homemaker and caregiver. Like her mother, serving and caring for others was her greatest joy. Hopefully those of us surviving have learned something from her wonderful example.
After marrying Leif they moved to San Francisco and started their family. Within five years they moved to Tamalpais Valley in Marin County, and 10 years later they moved to God”s country (Lake County), where they both lived out their days.
They were founding members of Galilee Lutheran Church in Konocti Bay, and Barbara was recently honored at their 40th year anniversary.
The family is so thankful for the steadfast and loving care provided by Susan Lemos, Cindy Turner, and Tulia Vaisau over the last 2 years, and also Diane Gunther of Hospice.
The family also thanks Dr. Kirk Andrus and Dr. Jerome Chin and their wonderful staffs.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27 at Kelseyville Cemetery, followed by a reception at Barbara”s home in Buckingham Park.
Flowers can be sent to Jones Mortuary, or donations can be made to Hospice in Lieu of.
