I applaud the decision by a majority of the Clearlake City Council to terminate the administrative officers. It was obvious to me and many others that these staffers had agendas and personalities that were not in the best interest of our community. This decision was long overdue and apparently given much deliberation, which was not available to the public.
The City of Clearlake needs to evaluate its hiring practices so that future hiring into such crucial positions do not stifle positive growth and the local economy. The City Council also should not become enamored with their choices and monitor performances to assure these employees meet the community”s needs. Feedback from the community should not be ignored but encouraged.
I appreciate the difficulty of serving on the City Council and understand that the decisions they have to make are very controversial but so important to the future of the city. I urge the Clearlake citizens to get involved in the city government by giving input and letting their thoughts be known by our council so the city”s decisions reflect the community”s desires.
