June 24, 1917 to Nov. 22, 2006, age 89.
Georgia passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Clearlake with her beloved husband by her side.
She was a native of Tucumcari, N.M. and a resident of Novato from 1961 until 1991, where she worked for Denny”s Restaurant for 20 years. After 1991, her residence was in Clearlake.
Georgia is survived by her husband, Joseph Shaner; three sons, Jack Tatum and wife Dee of Clearlake, Mike Garrett and wife Karen of Sonoma, and Dennis Garrett and wife Charlotte of Likely; three step-children, Ron Shaner and wife Dorine of Reno, Nev., Lori Marshall and husband John of Vallejo, and Steve Shaner of Marina Del Rey; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, R.Q. Adams of Newton, Kan., and Jack Adams of Vacaville.
“Dodie”s” big heart, sense of humor and gift of giving will be greatly missed by all that knew her and those fortunate enough to have crossed her path. Oh yeah, don”t forget the best southern fried chicken ever!
