From my understanding, prop 83 is a flop; retroactive punishment is just plain wrong. Did these old sex offenders case involve future punishment? No, by all means they either pled guilty or were found guilty and then served their punishment. How can we take away their civil liberties? There are thousands of ex-sex offenders that are rehabilitated and have families.

Putting a GPS device on those who have not re-offended is just plain wrong. Heck, I wouldn”t want to hire a man or women who was a ex-offender (sex crime) if they wore a GPS device ? the thing could go off in the office. This employee would be exposed and I could be liable for a lawsuit if he/she got injured by others.

The 2,000 feet rule for ex-offenders is an outrage, too, for the ones who own their homes. I am glad for the ones who rent; they are at the mercy of their landlord. Rent could be increased or maybe they do move up in the ladder in their line of work and can latter afford to buy their own home ? where do they buy it? In the desert?

I don”t get it and am afraid that retroactive punishment will do more harm. For those sex offenders trying to move forward this law is making them a public guinea pig.
