LAKEPORT — Led by Mitch Delfino”s 28 points and Jordan Gambetta”s 27 points, the Cloverdale Eagles beat the Clear Lake Cardinals 59-45 in the championship game of the Clear Lake Junior Varsity Boys” Basketball Tournament on Saturday in Lakeport.
“Those two killed us,” Clear Lake coach Chris Fisher said. “They can really shoot the ball.”
Clear Lake led 33-21 after the first half, but the second half was all Cloverdale.
Deflino and teammate Casey Berry were named to the All-Tournament team and Gambetta was honored as most valuable player.
Clear Lake”s All-Tourn-ament selections were Corey Dillon and Noel McCormack Jr.
Aaron Marshall”s 13 points paced the Cardinals in their loss to Cloverdale. Ryan Richardson added nine points.
In other final-round games, Willits beat St. Helena 41-22 for third place; Lower Lake defeated Middletown for the consolation championship (score not reported); and Fort Bragg beat Upper Lake 64-38 in the seventh-place game.
Other All-Tournament selections included Upp-er Lake”s Brad Diggs, Middletown”s Dylan Galusha and Lower Lake”s David Clark.
In earlier action Saturday, Cloverdale beat Willits 53-21 behind 15 points from Delfino, 12 from Gambetta and 10 from Berry, and Clear Lake knocked off St. Helena 35-27 behind 10 points from Dillon and nine from Richardson.
In the consolation semifinals, Middletown beat Upper Lake 66-30 behind 14 points from Galusha and 10 from Zack Strickler, and Lower Lake defeated Fort Bragg 31-28 behind 12 points from Paul Bailey and six from Clark.
