* Clear Lake Gleaners, Inc. (Food Bank of Lake County) will hold its monthly USDA food giveaway on Wednesday, Dec. 6. Sites are located at the American Legion Hall and the Elks Lodge in Clearlake as well as in Clearlake Oaks, Middletown, Kelseyville, Finley, Lakeport, Upper Lake and Lucerne.

Please note that there is no longer a site in Lower Lake and has not been for 10 months. This site has been relocated to the Clearlake Elks Lodge.

* The, Clear Lake Animal Welfare Society (CLAWS) is expected to resume writing spay/neuter vouchers on Wednesday, Dec. 6. CLAWS formerly wrote vouchers on the first and third Wednesday of each month at its thrift shop in Clearlake; however, it suspended doing so in September due to a lack of veterinary services.

* Lake County Rockhounds holds monthly meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at the Redbud Library, 14785 Burns Valley Road in Clearlake. The public is always welcome to attend. To register, call Reyna Lopez at 263-8382, ext. 135. To offset program costs, Lake County Tribal Health encourages a $10 donation. Dinner is included. Classes also take place regularly at other Lake County locations.

* Pearl Harbor Survivors chapter No. 23, North Lake and Mendocino County will hold military ceremonies, 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 at Library Park in Lakeport. Meet and talk with survivors. A special invitation is extended to Pearl Harbor Survivors and the public to attend.

* Pearl Harbor Survivors chapter No. 23, North Lake and Mendocino County will host a luncheon, Thursday, Dec. 7 at Anthony”s A Tasteful Affair, 2509 Lakeshore Blvd. in Lakeport. * The Redbud Hospital Auxiliary will hold a Christmas boutique, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the hospital at $1 for one ticket or $5 for six tickets.

* The Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual Christmas parade and tree lighting, beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec 9, at Redbud Park. The parade ends in Austin Park at around 7 p.m.

Monday, Dec. 11

* A workshop to discuss the proposed Lake County General Plan Update is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at the Brick Hall, 16374 Main Street in Lower Lake. The purpose of this workshop is to receive public comment in advance of public hearings that are anticipated to be scheduled this winter. The latest draft of the General Plan Update is available at county libraries and the Community Development Department, located on the third floor of the Lake County Courthouse in Lakeport. It can also be downloaded from the County of Lake”s Web site, www.co.lake.ca.us/. Wednesday, Dec. 13

* The Lower Lake Community Action Group meets at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Lower Lake Community Park. Dinner is $6 per person. Meetings include a guest speaker as well as LLCAG business.

* A free seminar on fund-raising for community projects will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13 at Redbud Library on Burns Valley Road in Clearlake. Space is limited.
