Authorities are searching for a male suspect involved in an armed robbery that occurred Wednesday, Nov. 29 at a video store on Lakeshore Drive. The Video Place was hit shortly before closing when an armed assailant entered the store and threatened the clerk with a handgun while demanding cash from the register.
The suspect, described as a white male, 6-foot-2 with a slender build, was reportedly wearing a nylon stocking mask, black jeans and a red, hooded, zip-up style sweatshirt at the time of the robbery, which was reported at 8:57 p.m. He was armed with a silver revolver, which he used to threaten the clerk.
According to details provided by the Clearlake Police Department, the suspect came into the store and pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded that he be given the money in the cash register. When the clerk opened the cash register, the assailant demanded the drawer and the clerk set it on the counter. He then made the clerk lay on the floor, at which point he picked up the drawer and fled the store in an unknown direction.
Clearlake police, with the assistance of the Lake County Sheriff”s deputies, canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Additional assistance was requested of Clearlake Community Patrol, who helped search the area for the cash drawer in the event it had been discarded, but it was not located either.
The clerk was not injured during the incident. Investigation of the armed robbery is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Clearlake Police Department at 994-8251.
