While returning to my car after shopping at Ray”s in Clearlake on Nov. 24 about 12:45 p.m. [I saw that] a young woman had parked her Mercedes in a handicap spot without plate or proper plackard. I looked around for a police officer and spotted two sheriff cars entering the parking lot. I approached the officers and asked them to ticket the car; their response was to tell me to call Clearlake P.D. [police department].

I called the sheriff”s department to complain only to be informed that the sheriff does not contract with Clearlake and were not obligated to write parking violaltions or traffic tickets and only respond when life or property were in danger.

It”s one thing to turn a blind eye to lesser laws, but to turn down a citizen who asks for help …. I for one will never respond to a jury summons again and will be more than happy to explain to the judge why.
