I enjoy reading the Record Bee. I take pleasure in knowing what”s going on in our local community. Last year the paper ran a series of leads to the build up of the end of the year “Top Ten Stories.” I eagerly awaited a re-cap of the best of our community. I was saddened and disappointed to find the “Top Ten” were violent, sensational, horrific events.
I know that each day in our County (and world) there are more acts of kindness and love than violence. I know that people daily join together in love and happiness; births are celebrated, families gather, moms and dads support their kids in sports/music/clubs, people work hard to raise money, support causes and make changes. I understand that these daily acts of compassion and commitment don”t make news or sell papers, but I also know that when we focus on the positive in our lives we feel better. I encourage the Record Bee to make news of our communities” top ten BEST stories. I think of all the wonderful things that have happened this year in our service clubs, places of worship, youth leagues, community groups, political arenas, hospitals, schools, and performing arts.
