KELSEYVILLE — Lake County”s oldest basketball tournament, the Stokes Tournament, tips off Dec. 28 at the Kelseyville High School gym.

This year”s version of the Stokes has a slightly different format from previous years. While the tournament has a full compliment of girls” teams who will compete in the standard eight-team bracket, only four boys” teams are entered. They will use a round-robin format to determine the winner.

Each of the three days of the tournament, which runs through Jan. 30, will feature six games ? four in the girls” bracket and two in the boys” bracket.

Competing in the 35th annual event on the girls” side are host Kelseyville, Middletown, Ferndale, St. Helena, Fortuna, South Fork, Drew (San Francisco) and Wallenberg (San Francisco). The boys” bracket features Kelseyville, Burton (San Francisco), Justin-Siena (Napa) and Drew.

The Stokes marks the final weekend of tournament activity for Lake County teams. North Central League I interlock action between the Northern Division and Southern Divisions teams opens Jan. 2.
