CONCORD — Sooner or later the Kelseyville Knights are going to win their first game of the season.
Kelseyville”s seventh bid to record win No. 1 for new coach Scott Conrad ended like each of the Knights” first six games this season … unsuccessfully. Concord used a big first quarter to beat Kelseyville 55-32 in a non-league varsity boys” basketball game at Concord, where the Knights trailed 18-2 after the opening period.
Isaac McQueen”s 15 points, including the team”s lone 3-pointer, paced the Knights, who fell to 0-7.
“Our first quarter didn”t turn out very good,” Conrad said. “But in the second quarter we climbed back into it and cut it down to five points at one time.”
Kelseyville closed to 27-18 by halftime but lost more ground in the third quarter and trailed 41-22 heading into the final period.
Kelseyville”s first win — and Conrad”s first victory — could come on Thursday when the Knights play Burton (San Francisco) in the first round of the 35th annual Stokes Tournament at Kelseyville High School.
The scheduled tip-off time is 6 p.m.
