LAKE COUNTY — The County”s November unemployment rate was 6.7 percent, up 1.2 percent from October”s record low of 5.5 percent, but well below the November 2005 rate of 7.5 percent.

This compares to a seasonally unadjusted rate of 4.5 percent for California and 4.3 percent for the nation for the period.

Rates for surrounding counties included 11.5 percent for Colusa, 4.8 percent for Mendocino, and 3.8 percent for Sonoma. Marin County had the lowest statewide rate of 3.4 percent and Imperial County had the highest with 16.2 percent.

Total industry employment grew by 450 jobs (3.2 percent) between November 2005 and November 2006, ending the year with 14,480 jobs.

Job growth occurred in: Natural Resources, Mining and Construction; Manufacturing; Trade, Transportation and Utilities; Financial Activities; Professional and Business Services; Private Educational and Health Services; Leisure and Hospitality; Other Services; Government.

Job losses occurred in: Farm; Information.

The Government sector again led industry gainers, adding 150 jobs for the period. Leisure and Hospitality gained 100; Natural Resources, Mining and Construction and Professional and Business Services each added 60. Private Educational and Health Services gained 40 and Manufacturing added 30. Trade, Transportation and Utilities, Financial Activities, and Other Services were up 10 jobs each. The Farm sector was down 20 and Information dropped 10 for the period.
