I live in Lucerne and commute to Ukiah Monday through Friday. Please fellow commuters, show a little common courtesy while on the road. Unfortunately, I usually drive the speed limit and I know this must be an inconvenience for most of you, if not downright irritating. To make matters worse, sometimes I drive at lower speeds during inclement weather.

Highway 20 isn”t a NASCAR race. There is no need to attempt “swapping paint,” or “rubbing,” just because you don”t think I”m going fast enough. OK, maybe that”s a slight exaggeration, but I should be able to see your license plate in my rear view mirror at least. Please stay one car length back for every ten miles per hour.

When you blaze past me at 70+ mph (usually over a double yellow line), there is no need to look over your shoulder and drop the “stank-eye” on me as you blast by. By some of the looks I”ve gotten you would think I”ve stolen your firstborn. Keep your eyes on the road. Also, hand gestures are not necessary. Keep both hands on the wheel. In closing I would like to say that if you are in such a big hurry to get wherever it is you”re going, do what I do. Get up a few minutes earlier, and drive safely.
