Two months ago I noticed [that] a tree had fallen over, dangling on wires near Lakeside Hospital. I didn”t report it right away since I thought someone qualified to tackle the job would notice it. When several weeks went by and it was leaning even more, due to the soft ground, and putting more stress on the cables, I called PG&E, thinking they were electrical lines the tree was leaning on. One of their techs called back and said it was not their lines, so “It”s not our problem.”
I asked,” Could you contact the correct person and have them take care of this?” but the person I spoke with didn”t seem to be concerned with that. Next, I called the Public Works Department. When I explained the tree was leaning on some lines, the response was, “Oh, if it”s on lines, our guys won”t touch it.” They gave me contact numbers for Mediacom and AT&T.
I spent a couple of hours on hold, struggling with auto-attendants, and finally talked to Mediacom; they took down the information.
I left a message with a local AT&T person.
I never heard back from either of them.
That same day, I saw an AT&T tech in the field and stopped to tell him about it. We were only a couple of hundred feet from the leaning tree. He drove by and looked at the problem. That was more two weeks ago.
The tree is dangerous, since it hangs over Hill Road and the lines are the only thing holding it up. If it falls it could fall on a vehicle, or otherwise cause an accident.I don”t know who else to call. If anyone knows who to call, please do so, unless you, too, feel “It”s not my problem”.
