LOWER LAKE — The cold-shooting Upper Lake Cougars were no match for the Lower Lake Trojans on Wednesday night at the Carl Delgado Gymnasium.

Behind 11 points each from Matt Parks and Kevin Freeman and another 10 from Jeff Wilder, Lower Lake rolled past Upper Lake 59-37 in a North Central League I interlock varsity boys” basketball game.

Upper Lake (4-9) shot just 28 percent from the field after shooting 21 percent in a loss to Kelseyville on Tuesday night.

“We can”t put the ball in the hole,” Upper Lake coach Forrest Stogner said. “Our first shot of the game we missed a layup, got the offensive rebound and missed a 4-foot jump shot. We missed six layups in the game.”

Lower Lake”s defense contributed to Upper Lake”s miserable night on offense as the Trojans came up with 19 steals.

“I was happy with the first-half defense,” Lower Lake coach Marty Udy said of the Trojans” 29-13 halftime lead.

Upper Lake did not have a player score in double figures. Kyle Coleman and Max Curtis led the way with eight points apiece and Jacob Widener added seven.
