LOWER LAKE — The situation was all too familiar for Lower Lake High School varsity boys” basketball coach Marty Udy.

With the Trojans seemingly in control against Roseland Prep in a non-league varsity boys” basketball game on Saturday at the Carl Delgado Gymnasium, Roseland Prep cut a double-digit Lower Lake lead to just six points in the third quarter.

“They made a little run,” Udy said.

And like he has done in so many other games this season, Udy did what all good coaches do in similar situations.

“I called a timeout to stop their momentum,” Udy said.

And the strategy worked as the Trojans not only snuffed out Roseland Prep”s run, but rebuilt their lead and cruised to a 49-34 win.

“Right after the timeout, we picked it right up to 15 and we even got it up to 20 at one point,” Udy said. “That was nice to see because other times this season we wouldn”t have done that. It would have ended up being a close game.”

Lower Lake (6-10) has led in the fourth quarter of seven of its 10 losses this season.

Jeff Wilder”s double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds led the Trojans and Mike Deakins added 13 points.
