I wish to respond to Mike McInerney, Lucerne, letter in the Lake County Record-Bee dated Dec. 29,2006.

You are right, Highway 20 is not a race track and people who pass you on a double yellow line at 70 mph are a danger to road safety. However, so are you. The law also requires people like you, who drive slower then traffic speed or below the posted speed limited, to pull over and let traffic to pass. Signs are posted all up and down Highway 20 for slower traffic to pull over.

My wife also drives to Ukiah for work and must leave a hour early in order to get to work on time because people like you who drive below the posted speed refuse to pull over and let everyone else go by. This includes when on wet roads, just cause you are unable to drive on wet roads doing the posted speed does not mean no one else can. It is not for you or me to decide how fast some one else can drive on wet roads; it is that person and the police to decide. You sir, are just as much a danger on the road as those who speed past you at 70 mph.

Slow drivers can be pulled over just as easily as speeders; it has happened and still does. So the next time some come up close to you wanting to pass, pull over and let them pass. You could be saving their life, someone elses, or you own as they inadvertently hit you when pulling back in front of you. I”ve seen both sides of this issue from following behind a slow-moving vehicle for miles until I have a passing lane or a dotted line and the way is clear to pass to someone nearly hitting me head-on trying to pass and I being forced off the road to avoid a head-on.
