William Ernest Winter, age 85, was born, July 9, 1921 in Fort Collins, Colo., and passed away peacefully Jan. 3, 2007 in his Upper Lake residence of 21 years. Survivors include his son, Jeff Winter; daughter, Heidi Young; and six grandchildren, Nicole, Robbie, Wyatt, Jake, Adam and Luke.
A World War II Navy Veteran, he also owned a hotel, hardware store and Winter Floor Covering in Healdsburg between 1950”s until 1974, when he retired to Upper Lake, where he enjoyed farming, gardening, bowling and socializing with folks. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at l p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11 at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 1625 High St., Lakeport.
