UPDATED:

This is in regard to traveling the Highway 20 corridor and the sad problem of increased traffic use, few pull-outs, fewer passing lanes and sadly, a few of us just not responding to the needs of other drivers.

Perhaps it is time to come together as a community and come up with some productive ideas about the increase in, not only commuter traffic on Highway 20, but the commercial traffic as well. Both have increased dramatically over recent years. We all are aware that this is our only highway system from the coast over to the Sacramento valley area and beyond, yet, over the years, has much been done to measure up to this demand for increased lanes, passing lanes, pull-outs and so on? Cal Trans has in place a few areas with passing lanes in the S.E. area as you are leaving Lake County, and again, over on the S.W. entrance to Lake County from Napa County, there are two-lane roads for a period near Lower Lake. Beyond that, except for the freeway” at Lakeport, there doesn”t seem to be much, except for the passing lanes” at the top of Rattlesnake Hill. There are areas in this county where one must travel from the top of the hill at Clearlake Oaks to Robinson Rancheria Casino before one may pass, when entering our beautiful county. This is an area of many miles when one is following commercial traffic and/or slow-moving motor homes, or travel trailers. Surely the time has arrived, when it is obvious to all, that we must insist that our needs as a growing, thriving community be met.

Can”t we have some positive thoughts to this frustrating situation? Thank you.
