Alta was born Feb. 15, 1905 and passed away in Ukiah on Jan. 14, 2007, at the age of 101 years. She was a native of Prairie du Chien, Wis. and a long time resident of Lakeport.
She is survived by her son, Robert J. (Lylise) Gernert of Lakeport and Yuma, Ariz.; one sister, Carrie Breuer of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Cheryl (Herb) Shephard, Christine (Al) Parks, Robert A. (Trudi) Gernert, Gary (Patricia) Gernert, and Kelli (Bob) Holder.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19 at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 1625 High St., Lakeport. Alta”s wishes were cremation and her remains will be placed with her husband Alfred Gernert in the Catholic Cemetery in Prairie du Chien, Wis.
