Calling all artists! Would you like to see your work on display in the community? “Art in Public Places” is a program offering local professional and non-professional artists an opportunity to display their works in the community of Lake County.

The artwork may include oil, acrylics, photographs (10 per person) and mixed media, all of which have been securely prepared for hanging.

Lake County Arts Council staff will be receiving work between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, in the main lobby of the Lake County Court House. Work submitted will be hung in the courthouse and City Hall in Lakeport. This is also the only time for picking up artwork from the prior show. This new exhibit will show through May 17, 2007.

After volunteers have hung the artwork, a master list of locations and pieces will be available at the Arts Council office.

Another location for Art in Public Places is the Lake County Visitor Center in Lucerne. If you are interested in hanging at this location, please call the office and request more information.

The Lake County Arts Council welcomes new exhibitors. There is a $1 hanging fee for each piece entered. There will still be a 20 percent commission paid to the Lake County Arts Council by members and 30 percent by non-members should any work be sold.

Work may be for sale or just to show. Membership is not required, but the Arts Council encourages all those interested to become committed members and financial supporters of the Arts Council.

Remember, artwork on these exhibits should not be removed on your own unless you notify the council beforehand. The Lake County Arts Council is located at 325 N. Main St. in Lakeport, 263-6658.
