UKIAH — Judge Ronald Brown granted a continuance in the trial of Mendocino County resident Trevor Conley, who is accused of murdering former Upper Lake resident Kevin Henry.

The continuance was requested by Donald Lipmanson, defense attorney for Conley, 23, of Ukiah.

Conley and Nathan McWilliams, 24, also from Ukiah, are accused of killing Henry, 39, of Albion sometime after he went missing Nov. 2, 2005. McWilliams has pleaded guilty to murder and awaits sentencing.

According to Dr. Jason Trent, Mendocino County medical examiner, Henry was stabbed 17 times. Two of the 17 stab wounds were lethal. The official cause of death was blunt-force trauma to the head and stab wounds to the chest.

“It”s devastating because we have to keep going through this since Nov. 11 of 2005; there is certainly no closure,” said Rachelle Henry, sister of the victim. “It feels like the accused have more rights then the victims.”

According to testimony, Henry was lured to a remote Ukiah-area road were he was knocked unconscious and stuffed into the trunk of his vehicle.

He was later found dead in the vehicle off a steep embankment on Orr Springs Road.

Conley is due back in Mendocino County court Aug. 6. A sentencing hearing date for McWilliams has not been set.
